Exemplars And Evaluation
The unit project requires collaborative groups to take the Sketchup dream house model that they have created in response to client feedback and use previously and newly learned technology tools to author a "walkthrough" client presentation that persuades the client to hire them as architects for the project. Below is an example of a house that I designed in Sketchup:
As I am asking students to collaborate with and recieve feedback from industry professionals in our virtual community, I collaborated with Andrew Lee, AIA to complete a more "professional" house design for my walkthrough exemplar. It is depicted below:
The rubric for this project is divided into two sections- one for the 3D house model and the second for the client presentation. It is attached below:

Because so much of this unit is about collaboraton, interaction, feedback, professionalism, and self-directed learning, it is imperative to integrate these skills into the practice of creating the unit products. As a result, students will practice and refine these skills and learn the importance of constantly improving these skills of "professionalism." I have chosen to implement the Group Project Tools published by The Eberly Center For Teaching Excellence and Educational Innovation at Carnegie Mellon University. These evaluation instruments are available via this link to Google Drive.
